Release Notes

Version R2403

Released at April 2024

New Features

  • Organization: Enable the capability to export entity models in bulk; support integrate data completion rate check at view/entity/category and source levels using a heatmap, and send notification reminders to relevant reporters via email.

  • Data Entry: Offer streamlined tools for bulk saving and updating historical data of a specific view within a designated time range. This eliminates the need for users to manually save data on a monthly basis, especially when there are changes in the dataset.

  • REC: Support environmental rights purchase requests, sending requests to the China Carbon Operations team. (This feature is only enabled in CN5).

  • Report: Support ISO report generation (Chinese only).

  • Settings: Support setting target currency and monthly currency exchange rate configuration to achieve multi-currency data entry.

Enhancements

  • Support assigning role permissions based on views.

Version R2312

Released at January 2024

New Features

  • Unit Switching: Within the organizational management page, you can now switch between kilograms (kg), metric tons (t), and kilotons (kt) when previewing carbon emissions, reductions, offsets, and related data, for greater flexibility and precision in carbon analysis.

  • Single Site Simplified Data Import: For single-site administrators, import most resource consumption carbon emission activity data using a user-friendly data import template (excluding complex emissions source activity data like process emissions). Compared to the previous multi-site all-activity template, this template is more understandable and user-friendly for non-developer users.

  • Multi-Language Support: Added French language support.

  • New ICE Emission Factor Library, 2023 IEA Factor Library, DEFRA 2023 Factor Library, and built-in AR6 factors.

  • Customization of Business Fields (BP) now supported under Settings > Property Template.

Enhancements

  • Enhanced factor selection UI interface with the addition of a factor publishing agency column, displaying values for six different emission gases, and introducing sorting and filtering options.

  • Improved location-based factor selection, now supports automatically selecting the corresponding IEA grid factors based on the business field “Location BP.”

  • Enhanced backend functionality to expand data fields added to the emission reduction details facts table for custom emission reduction cost analysis.

Version R2309

Released at October 2023

New Features

  • Data Approval: Introducing the data approval mode where system data submitted must be approved by auditors before entering the formal calculation process. New approval mode aims to uphold data quality, ensuring that organization data records are accurate, complete, and reliable.

  • Measurement - Intelligent Data Import (Preview): Data import now supports OCR data recognition. New import method leverages pretrained OCR models to identify data fields in documents, extract emission information from invoices, utility bills, and other files, and populating them as the emission activity data in the data entry menu.

  • Abatement - Marginal Emission Cost Curve Analysis: After implementing abatement initiatives, you can now make use of this new tool to evaluate and rank abatement initiatives based on their cost-effectiveness per ton of CO2 equivalent removed, relative to the emissions reduction potential.

  • Entity and Properties Information Management - Custom Properties: This new feature enables users to create and manage custom property information for entity models based on specific business needs, so as to facilitate multidimensional metric analysis.

Enhancements

  • ISO 14064 standard now supported in emissions data collection, accounting, and report generation.

  • Location-based emissions data calculation method now added to data entry.

  • In preview mode, system now supports direct conversion of existing standard entities into IoT entities. You can connect IoT entities to assets through asset mapping, eliminating the need to create new entities for IoT data import.

  • Separating REC Certificates and Carbon Credits into two independent menus, REC - Target and Abatement menu, Carbon Credits - Offset menu.

    Note

Import carbon credits in chronological order, starting with those with earlier performance cycles.

  • Simplified IoT data import by automating the replication of the same configurations across multiple months, so you no longer have to configure emissions sources, data sources, and activity amounts each month, these settings are now completed in the first month, and synced across the entire year.

  • When exporting carbon report data, data for the six greenhouse gases is now displayed separately in individual rows and columns, providing clearer data traceability.

Version R2306

Released at July 2023

Meet Ark Carbon Management System

The first release of Univers Ark Carbon Management System introduces the following features:

Defining emissions reporting boundaries and organizational structure

  • Multi-Dimensional View Management: Independently manage complex organizational data in segments using isolated views, offering flexibility in defining data reporting boundaries and structures to accommodate data collection across various geographical, functional, operational and financial dimensions.

  • Organizational data visualization: Visualize collected data across view partitions through organizational charts, outlining the company structure and data reporting relationships between entities from top (parent organization) to bottom (individual operating units), to provide a clear hierarchy to manage and trace emissions data composition and aggregation paths.

  • Entity model and properties management: Organize entities based on shared characteristics using models and manage unique property information for each model group for data analysis and visualization.

  • Multi-compliant carbon accounting: Measure greenhouse gas emissions using standards-based carbon accounting model and inventory, compliant with Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP), ISO14064 and relevant carbon methodologies, define accounting boundary based on corporate’s organization formation and operation borders, aggregate submitted data according to equity share or operational control approach.

Measure Corporate Carbon Footprints

  • Emission Source Identification: Identify emission sources according to the operational conditions of each business unit. Utilize a comprehensive library of industry-specific emission sources, activities, and emission factors to establish a customized carbon emissions database for the organization. Fully supports customization of emission sources, activities, and factors in line with specific business needs.

  • Multiple Data Input Methods: Collect emissions data and consolidate siloed organization emissions, enabled through manual entry, batch imports, IoT data retrieval and integration with third-party systems.

  • Document Library Management: Support for uploading, storing, and organizing documents such as invoices, bills, certificates, and other carbon accounting-related files. Attach documents to assist relevant roles in data review and verification tasks.

Monitor and Analyze Data

  • Routinal Emissions Data Monitoring: Monitor the performance of various entities and the overall corporate portfolio through dashboards that track calculated metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Analyze emission trends and rankings, conduct multidimensional analysis to pinpoint emission hotspots, and formulate strategies for emission reduction.

  • Persona-based Dashboard Customization: All data dashboards offer the flexibility to customize page layouts and widget components, so business owners can monitor the KPIs most relevant to their function, responsibilities, and objectives. Also supports customization of metric dimensions, such as revenue intensity, regional intensity and product unit intensity, for precise, real-time, and context-specific data analysis insights.

Manage abatement initiatives and set reduction target pathways

  • Abatement Initiative Management: Audit and record emission reduction efforts, including project details and reduction volume achieved for activities such as renewable energy investments, low-carbon improvements and energy efficiency initiatives. Supports creating reusable abatement initiative templates.

  • Corporate Emissions Target Setting: Set actionable Science-Based Targets (SBTi) or custom targets and formulate strategies to achieve these objectives. Benchmarking against Business as Usual (BAU) scenarios, and analyze gaps between current emissions and the set objectives.

  • Corporate Emissions Target Forecasting and Management: Model and simulate target pathways to evaluate progress and assess whether the company’s reduction efforts or policies align with the established targets.

  • REC inventory Management: Record Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) information and purchases, distribute quotas to emitting entities to achieve emission reduction goals. Track full lifecycle of REC certificates, from purchase to retirement, ensuring inventory completeness and process integrity.

Manage Offset Inventory and Scale Down Environmental Impact

  • Carbon Credits inventory Management: Register carbon credit purchases and distribute them among emitting entities to offset the remaining unavoidable corporate emissions, track inventory changes from purchase, registration to allocation and retirement, ensuring inventory completeness and thorough process documentation.
